Long-term effects of alcohol on the brain
In a thirty-year study, scientists followed an adult to see how alcohol consumption affects human cognitive characteristics.
According to their knowledge, those who drank the most during the three decades showed a faster and greater decline in cognitive functions, including key memory-related areas and the ability to learn. Even those who used alcoholic beverages sparingly were at three times the risk of brain atrophy compared to those who did not drink at all.
